Over time, supporting structures can deteriorate, especially in cases where water has eroded the materials.

This was the issue with a brick arch supporting the boundary wall over the millstream, as well as the lower millstream brick arch bridge, both of which had partially collapsed. 

After visiting the site and measuring both structures, we determined that the defects were due to deteriorated embedded timber wall plates in the upper wall and washed-out mortar on the soffit of the arch bridge.

Working closely with the listed building officer, we created structural condition drawings and outlined repairs and strengthening solutions that preserved the historic materials and character of the site.
